For this assignment I would like you to complete two tasks:
1.) When you are done reading the assigned chapters, post at least one open ended question for the group to respond to. Remember that an open ended question makes the reader THINK. Be sure to enter your post by Friday morning.
2.) Over the weekend go back to the blog and answer at least 3 of the questions that your classmates asked. You may answer more if you would like and you may also respond more than once to other people's thinking.

ReplyDeleteI wonder if the ship that's coming really is the Aleuts? If so, what are they coming to do. For example, are they coming back to hunt sea otters, again, or are they coming this time for something different?
Also, maybe this is the real climax of the story. What if the ship is the ship coming back to get Karana? Would it change the whole story? Or Maybe the Indians that left to go to that miracle country forgot all about Karana, and her brother. Maybe? Maybe not?
What if the Aleuts already hunted down, and killed the Indians? What would that do to the story? Something? Nothing?
Ok! I have typed my few questions, and have to get ready for wrestling practice, son T.T.F.N. (Ta Ta For Now)

ReplyDeleteMy first open question will be.... Do you think Karana having pets is changing what and how she does things. I would like to hear many people answer to this question so I can see what people seem to thimk the answer is.Another question I had that I would like for pome people to answer is... What do think the Dolphins have to do with the story? Or is it one of those stories where the title is at the very end of the story. I know I once read a story called "Arthur For The Very Fist Time" and you didn't understand the title until the very last line for example his friend kept on calling him mouse not Arthur and finaly at the last line his fiend calls him Arthur for the very first time. I don't mean that it has to be at the last line of the sentence but pretty close to the end or basicly at the end. Like "Where the Red Fern Grows" Oh sorry Jay you don't know about that book yet, but you wil in 5th grade. Do You think Karana is starting to get used to it on the Island? Well as Jay would say T.T.F.N.(Ta Ta For Now)

ReplyDeleteI could not wait so I am going to answer some questions. Josh asked if we were scared when the devil fish grabbed Rontu. I was TERRIFIED! the last thing I wanted to happen after she saved his life was for him to die.My least favorite charecter is the new leader that left Karana behind.

ReplyDeleteI'm going to answer my own questions. 1. Yes I was worried when the devilfish grabbed Rontu because characters close to Karana seem to die so I thought the devilfish would kill her. My favorite character is Karana because the book is in her perspective and so you know aboput her more than any character and can relate better. My least favorite character is the Aleut cheif even though he is not in the book anymore he can still come back and he is the one who killed Karana's father.

ReplyDeleteNow I will answer Jay's question. I think the story wouldn't change because the other Indians aren't really part of the story.
Next I will answer Marino's question. Yes because if she didn't have Rontu she wouldn't have to care for him but she would be lonely.
Now I will answer Aaron's question. No because he had to rip the dogs leg off or the other dogs and that dog would have killed him.
I don't know what Tracer's question is.
Next Cassandra. I don't think the Aleuts will ever come back so she wouldn't need to hide.
Now Taylor's. I think that Rontu and Karana would fight back with the Aleuts, if they came, and then the Indians would come back. If that happened I would change my thinking on if the Indians were important.

ReplyDeleteYes Tracer I am sort of confused that the pack split in half and that Rontu wanted to act like nothing happened but maybe Rontu didn't want to really concern Karana even though Rontu had some scratches on him and Karana did see him fight.

ReplyDeleteJosh I think that my favorite character is Karana so far in the book because she is very independent and when she tries to do something that she is scared to do or she can't really do she keeps trying until she gets to where she wants to be, she is not giving up.

ReplyDeleteYes Marino I do thind that Karana is getting used to living at the island. I think it is easier for Karana to live there now because the lead dog isn't her enemy any more and she was their for a couple of seasons so she is getting used to staying on the island and how things work alone except for Rontu and the other wild dogs.

One of Talyor's questions was, what will karana do if the Aluets find her? My thought on that question is that they will probably won't mind if shes there as long as she doesn't want anything.
One of Josh's questions was who is your favorite character and my favorite character is Karana because the book is about her life and there really no other characters in the book.Also you know more about her then anyone else.

ReplyDeleteas i promised i am now answering my own questions... #1) i feel a little grossed out because Rontu ripped the whole leg off and i'm satisfied becaue this proves that Rontu can protect Karana. #2) yes, because he uses alot of desciptive words and sometimes worries u like u r right there with Karana.

A: My favorite character in the book is Karana. This is because she is the main character, and we know the most about her.

A: My least favorite characters are the Aleut Russians. This is because they are bad, and killed the Indians with no reason.
Q: #3 (Marino) I do not think having a pet will make Karana do things differently. This is because she is very independent, and will not let a pet dog change her ways.
Q: #4 (Tracer) I am not confused about the way Rontu acted. I think it is just the way dogs act.

ReplyDeleteTo answer Jays question I don' think it is the Aluets because she said they came in a different direction last time.
Also Jay I think the Climax is going to be in any chapter now because we are so close to the end anything could happen and I bet the dolphins are going to be apart of the climax as well.
Aaron to answer your first question I think Rontu needed to show by fighting the other pack mates that his life is different now and he is with Karana now and longer cares or wants anythig to do with them. Plus I feel that he did'nt have to show the pack that by ripping of another dogs leg that he was not apart of them.... but if thats what he had to do to settle things for a while thats what he must do.
To answer your question Josh my favorite character is pretty hard to choose I now like Rontu because he has changed and I think is realy heping Karana but I have to say Karana because she realy has impresed me at all of the things she can do and have accomplished and realy has learned to become quite inndepent.
Josh another question I have decied to answer of yours is that my least favorite character has got to be the chief or the leader or the person in charge of the Aluets because I think a lot of the things they did were because of GREED! I bet if they were not so GREEDY there would of been NO FIGHT and everything would of been normal.
Taylor Yes I think the dolphins are going to be apearing pretty soon because I have a feeling that they are going to apear around the end or in the Climax which I think is going to be at the end.
