Chapter 21-end

Dear Bloggers,
It is exciting to think that we have come to the end of our book. I am sure that your thoughts about the plot have changed quite a bit since your initial predictions. I would like you to focus on three things when you enter your final blog:

1.) Summarize the book. Be sure to include information about the characters, setting and problem/solution. Use the vocabulary words from the sort and prediction that you did at the introduction of the book.

2.) How do you feel about the climax and the ending of the book?

3.) What are your thoughts on your blogging experience. What would you change, what did you like? Would you like to blog again for the next book? Please be honest, it will help make all of our blogging experiences better!

Chapters 17-20

For this assignment I would like you to complete two tasks:
1.) When you are done reading the assigned chapters, post at least one open ended question for the group to respond to. Remember that an open ended question makes the reader THINK. Be sure to enter your post by Friday morning.
2.) Over the weekend go back to the blog and answer at least 3 of the questions that your classmates asked. You may answer more if you would like and you may also respond more than once to other people's thinking.

Chapters 13-16

Hi Bloggers. I would like you to be sure that you make two enteries for chapters 13-16. The first entry should discuss your thoughts on the section you read. Specifically talk about your reaction to Karana's new pet, his name and the signifcance of it and why you think he is so important to her. In the second blog I would like you to wait to make your entry until others have posted, then I would like you to respond and react to their thoughts on the chapters.

Chapters 9-12

Hi Readers! Please read chapters 9-12 and share your thinking in the blog. You can talk about the plot, characters, setting, vocabulary or anything else that you NOTICE and want to REACT to. Remember that it is important to point out specifically what you are noticing, but you actually show your thinking skills by then reacting to what you have noticed. I would like each of you to blog at least twice. Post your first thoughts, then return to the site so that you can react to what other people in the group are noticing. You of course can blog more than twice since it is very beneficial to discuss the book.

Chapters 5-8

There are many new vocabulary words in this book due to the setting of the book. Carefully watch for words that you think are confusing, new, different and interesting. Share a few of them with your fellow bloggers and let them know what you think they may mean and why you think they are important to the book. Remember that when we pick vocabulary words they should be of some importance to the book and your understanding of it.

chapters 1-4

Hi Readers! I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on chapters 1-4. Remember that the first chapters in most fictions books give you information about the characters and the setting. Now that you have more knowledge of the book, what are you discovering about these two story elements? Happy Reading!

Introduction

Welcome to our Island of the Blue Dolphins blog page. I am excited to read your thinking and see what you have to share with the other group. For our first activity I would like you to answer the question below. Happy Blogging!

1.) Now that you know that the genre of the book is Historical Fiction, how would you change the summary that you originally wrote? You don't have to re-write your summary, just tell me what you think might need to change with your prediction of the plot.
